John Majors

Managing Director

John is a Managing Director for The MIDAS Group.  At MIDAS, John manages client relationships with executives and entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses profitably and efficiently. 

Prior to joining MIDAS, John served as the Vice President of Finance for Atlanta based commercial real-estate firm The Dawson Company.  As the Vice President of Finance, John led financial analysis for the firm’s development projects and investment management activities.  John also worked closely with senior Dawson management on strategic initiatives. 

While at Dawson, John was a member of the financing and development teams responsible for The Banks Mixed-Use Redevelopment (Cincinnati, Ohio), Lindbergh City Center (Atlanta, Georgia), and Lindmont Apartments Redevelopment (Atlanta, Georgia).

Prior to joining The Dawson Company, John held the position of Corporate Finance Manager for Atlanta-based energy firm Mirant.  While at Mirant, John held budgeting responsibilities for a $700 Million division of the business.  John was an integral part of the restructuring team for the company’s $11 Billion debt work-out.  He worked directly with senior management on multiple strategic refinancing initiatives and asset divestiture assignments.

John began his finance career as an Associate with Atlanta-based investment bank Robinson Humphrey, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions and helping clients raise private equity capital.

John currently serves on the boards of the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority, the Carl E. Sanders Buckhead YMCA, Friends of John A. White Park First Tee of Atlanta Program,  and Hillside Chapel, where he serves as Treasurer.  John is also a member of the Atlanta chapter of the Urban Land Institute.

John graduated from Harvard Business School in 2000, receiving a Masters degree in Business Administration.  While at Harvard, John served as the Co-President of the African American Student Union and was named the first ever Goldman Sachs Fellow at the school.  While at Harvard, John was also a Junior Achievement Fellow.  John received a Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in Computer Science from Morehouse College in 1995.
